The BRITISH JERSEY 02 - a cotton rugby jersey, designed to feel instantly familiar. Knitted and sewn in the British Isles from substantial yet breathable cotton jersey. Quiet strength, easy structure, and real craft in every stitch. We’ve taken the spirit of that 1993 jersey - rolled up and ready - and rebuilt it. Shaped for movement, with more ease through the chest and arm. Designed for everyday, but with something more stitched into every line. The kind of jersey you reach for without thinking. Ready when you are.

The British Jersey 02 is a long-sleeve relaxed-fit rugby shirt, subtly oversized in fit with a raglan shaped sleeve, a subtle stepped hem and just the right amount of structure and drape.

The signature rugby collar is made from a tough drill, to ensure it maintains structure along with webbing along the placket, so it sits just so, whether buttoned up or left open. The collar is in an Undyed Ecru on our Navy jersey, and the Ecru jersey has a Navy collar.

The spirit of an old jersey - made to feel right for now. Soft yet substantial. Comfortable without losing structure. Knitted in 100% cotton loopback: breathable, weighty, with a natural ease.

100% COTTON

A high-quality breathable fabric - we recommend a gentle machine wash at 30ºC with similar colours.

We recommend to reshape while damp, dry flat and a warm iron after washing so that its structure and shape remains at its best.

The makers behind the British Jersey

At the heart of British Jersey is a quiet partnership: Roy, a knit-machine specialist, and Helen, a garment maker.

Based in Loughborough - for over 40 years, they’ve been keeping alive the craft of real rugby jerseys - structured but slouchy, breathable yet strong.

Originally known for supplying jerseys to British schools, Roy and Helen stayed committed to small-batch British production, even as others moved overseas.

Every part of the design is chosen to feel like a proper jersey should — weighty loopback cotton, knitted by Roy’s friend just down the road, cut and sewn by hand in their workshop. The process is slow, deliberate, and quietly exceptional.

A jersey made properly — for now, and for the years ahead.
